Now Playing: Snow by Alec Holowka
So for about 3 months this summer, I had to take care of my partner’s apartment, as he was away on business. I didn’t really ask for details, so I don’t really know exactly what he was doing.
While he was gone, one of my duties in caring for the apartment was to chase pigeons off the balcony whenever I heard them out there and make sure none of them roosted on the balcony. However, between work and a few other duties at home, I couldn’t be there all the time. So, there ended up being a pair of pigeons who took up a nest on his balcony and laid a pair of eggs.
Those two have been there for about two weeks now, and my partner has been back for about one. I had sent the bird sanctuary in my city an email asking what would be the best course of action, and the response I got said that while they weren’t protected by law and I was allowed to remove them, I could also leave them and they wouldn’t be too messy to leave.
My partner and I have decided to leave them be, let the eggs hatch and let them stay on the balcony until the babies learn to fly. I also decided to name them Peanut and Kiwi. Peanut is the one that incubates the eggs at night and Kiwi is the one that incubates them during the day. They’re just little guys and they’re very cute.
Here is a photo of Kiwi for reference.

We’ll be keeping an eye on these little birds, so I’ll try to post updates when I can.
