Anger within a pagan context specifically can be weird. So rarely is my rage directed at any one person, but at the system that caused them to say and do the things they do.
It is the unfortunate reality that we live in a society that was built on Christianity and, as a result, sees that as the default. This causes Christian holidays to be seen as secular and anyone who doesn’t celebrate these as weird.
This also applies in conversations surrounding religion as a whole. When discussing religion, many people will assume Christianity as the default. This will influence their perspective, and often causes a severe disconnect when the person they’re talking to is from another religion, especially one such as paganism.
While many people in these discussions are very open to bridging that disconnect and seeing another perspective that may very well challenge their own, it is still very frustrating to be in such a position where that is the dominant view. It can be very disheartening when interacting with people who are, through no fault of their own, so uneducated in these topics that I constantly have to be the one educating.
Again, this isn’t the fault of any one person. This is the fault of a system built upon a religion so concerned with keeping itself alive that it will commit atrocities that should never even be considered. I’m also speaking from a specifically white Canadian perspective, so that will also impact it to an extent.
It’s just frustrating, and I’m kinda done with it.
