So What Am I Doing Now?

Now Playing: Rapture by Elvenking

So it’s October, and the first month of the new academic year has come and gone here in Canada. But what does that mean for me? Well, a couple of things.

I’m taking a year or so off from university (it’s complicated), and instead going to a college here in the city that offers a Music Industry Arts program. This is basically a program to learn the actual practical aspects of the music industry, as it stands now. It covers legal aspects of the industry, entrepreneurship and business within the industry, audio theory, songwriting and music theory, a recording lab, live production, and more. It’s tiring as hell, since they’re essentially asking me to wake up at the ass crack of dawn to get to campus for 8 in the morning most days, but it is quite interesting and I’ve been enjoying it so far.

The new school year also means a new choir season. I have some choral pieces I’ve been working on and am looking to potentially premiere this season, as well as some fun pieces the director chose for us to do before the end of the calendar year. Much of my choral composing is either standard SATB harmony or some sort of solo (often baritone, but recently a contralto and baritone duet) over SATB harmony, though I have been meaning to expand on that front.

But what does that mean for this? I will still be trying to keep up with this weekly, but it might get a little inconsistent for a time. I still have a lot of thoughts on music and pagan stuff, which is the entire point of me running this thing. I happen to enjoy writing here. It keeps me thinking about what’s going on in topics close to my heart.

So that’s roughly where my life stands right now. It’s nothing too special, and I’m still getting used to the way things are sitting, but it’s a good time. I have some cool stuff in the works and I look forward to sharing it. I’ll have more soon enough. Embrace your wyrd. 3 ways to magick.
