How I Make Album Reviews

Now Playing: Tower Of The Queen by Falconer

So I’ve done a few album reviews now. But what is my process for them, you may ask? It’s actually pretty simple.

First, as a general rule, I don’t assign any numbers to it. That’s a big thing about my album reviews. I don’t like giving numerical values, especially considering how opinion based those numbers are, and how wildly that can vary. It’s also very hard to give consistent numbers to something when it’s based on my own observations and how I see something.

When it comes to the actual post, I tend to write the album review posts as I listen to the album. The track by track look is a first impression look at the album, with the exception of singles. Each track will have a little writeup about things that I notice, and what I like or dislike about it. These won’t always have super strong opinions, but they are written in such a way that highlights my overall thoughts and opinions based on first impressions.

I don’t tend to do more posts about albums beyond that first post, because I don’t like writing about opinions beyond first impressions. That general first impression look at an album is what makes my writing and album posts more interesting in this.
